13-year-old DJ Daniel has been sworn in as an honorary agent of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol.
On Wednesday (May 14), Daniel, who's been diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer, was honored as an ICE and Border Patrol agent as part of his wish to join over 1,000 law enforcement agencies across the U.S, per the National News Desk.
“Amazingly, he surpassed his goal long before becoming an honorary ICE officer,” the agency wrote. “DJ’s determination is an inspiration to all of us, and we’re honored to welcome him to our team.”
At a young age, Daniel had to undergo multiple brain surgeries while fighting cancer. President Donald Trump recognized Daniel during his State of the Union address in March, announcing that he would become an honorary Secret Service agent.
On Thursday (May 15), the White House announced that Daniel had joined Border Patrol, saying, “LET’S JUST SAY—IT’S A VERY BAD DAY TO BE AN ILLEGAL ALIEN TERRORIST.”
Video shared on social media shows Daniel addressing Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D), who allegedly made a comment about the 13-year-old's head.
“This one congresswoman was talking about my head but I said ‘she can’t be talking because she look like a burnt marshmallow,’” he said during his Border Patrol ceremony.
