A Phoenix teacher has been arrested after he allegedly urinated in his classroom and exposed himself to his students.

According to 12News, 52-year-old Curt Hinton was arrested earlier this month on four counts of felony indecent exposure.

The alleged incident unfolded on March 17 at Wilson Elementary school. Students in Hinton's classroom told the authorities and school officials that they saw their teacher's exposed "private part" when he urinated in a bottle.

The students who saw Hinton were three 11-year-old girls and a 12-year-old boy.

“The students stated they heard what sounded like water falling and looked over to visually witness, Mr. Hinton urinating into a bottle,” court documents state.

Hinton told police he didn't excuse himself to the restroom because he didn't know of a way to contact someone to watch his class.

“He stated he resorted back to what he did in the military when he could not leave a spot and peed into a can,” court documents read.

Hinton also noted that he didn't think students could see his genitials because he used his hands to cover it. According to detectives, Hinton's desk isn't enclosed so the lower half of his body is exposed when he's seated.

The teacher told police that the one-time incident was a "poor use of judgement and he made a mistake.”

The school district said in a statement: "Wilson Elementary School District is cooperating fully with the Phoenix Police Department regarding this matter. In accordance with district policy, we are unable to share specific details related to personnel matters. However, we can confirm that the individual submitted his resignation effective March 20, 2025. At this time, we are unable to provide any further comments. Lastly, The well-being of our students is our top priority, and we appreciate your thoughtful approach."
