A Georgia mother has been sentenced after killing her two sons by putting them in an oven.

On Friday (November 15), Lamora Williams was sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 35 years after being convicted of murder, aggravated assault, cruelty to children, and other related offenses in connection to the deaths of her one and two-year-old sons, per PEOPLE.

Willaims was initially arrested in October 2017 after claiming that she found her sons had died while being watched over by a caregiver.

However, investigators later determined that the boys weren't left with a caregiver, and Williams had put her two sons in the oven either the night before or in the morning before she called 911. Police responded to the scene and found the two boys, identified as one-year-old Ja’Karter Penn and Ke'Yaunte Penn, 2, with burn marks.

According to an autopsy report, the boys died after a “prolonged exposure to heat” from an oven, adding that it would “require an extensive amount of time to get to this degree."

Williams reportedly called her sons' father via video chat after killing them. The father, Jameel Penn, previously described the scene as "a real horror movie. It was Friday the 13th.”

“After I seen what I seen, you know I called the police,” Penn said.

Williams' mother previously noted that her daughter had a history of mental health issues.
