Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight YouTuber Logan Paul in 2021.
Taking to social media this Sunday (December 6), Floyd announced he will return to the ring for a “super exhibition” match, scheduled for February 20, 2021.
Coming in at 5 feet 8 inches and 150 pounds per his last fight, the 43-year-old remains undefeated — with an astounding 50-0 record in the ring — after squaring up with the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya and most recently, Conor McGregor in 2017.
The highly anticipated boxing bout comes after Logan's brother, Jake Paul infamously knocked out former NBA player, Nate Robinson, just minutes into the second round of their match.
Paul, popularly known as an internet personality, is becoming somewhat of an entertaining boxer on the rise, having fought fellow internet star, Olajide “KSI” Olatunji, twice in the ring — the first ending in a tie, the second with KSI taking the victory. (For context, Paul stands at 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 200 pounds.)
The exhibition — which will not be counted toward either fight’s pro record — may seem like an unusual pairing, however, it’s one Paul’s been taunting Floyd for in the past.
The legendary fighter eventually responded last month, warning, "These YouTube girls better find some Barbie dolls to play with cause I’m not the one for the kid games. 3 years ago a fighter from the UFC said my name and I had to put a muzzle on that b—h. @loganpaul can get the same treatment before I go conquer Japan again."
FanMio will host the event, which will be available via pay-per-view, with the first one million purchases costing $24.99 before increasing to $39.99 after the threshold is met. On December 29, the cost will rise to $59.99 and then $69.99 beginning on February 11.
